Recipes from Philippines

a recipe from the Phillipines

The Philippines is situated in South East Asia and is just one of 7000 tropical islands.  The Philippines itself is an idyllic and romantic location with white sandy beaches and the clearest of blue sea.  Many people each year travel to the Philippines to holiday and take in the beautiful surroundings and scenery.  Surprisingly the Philippines is often easily missed by some tourists, this is due to it being located on the incorrect side of the South China sea, and the tourists who do decide to travel to it, have to go the extra mile to reach it, but getting there is really just a blip, and reaching this fabulous location is well worth the wait.  The Philippines is perfect in everyway, and the people out here are friendly, and the location is great for sunbathing, waterskiing, snokeling and swimming.

As for the weather in the Philippines, at its hottest the temperature can reach a bubbling 38ºC, and these are usually reached in and around the month of May.  The cooler months are between December and January, but these temperatures are by no means cool by British standards, they still reach the 25ºC mark   There is a lot of rainfall within this country and this usually happens suddenly, with heavy outbursts of rain at any given moment.  With the heavy rainfall often comes the chance of a flash flood.  There is a dry and wet season in the Philippines, the dry season usually runs from November through to May and the wet season from September through to June, though if travelling in the dry season, any tourist should be aware that there is still the chance of unpredictable freak weather, as the weather pattern has become somewhat unreliable in recent years.  Between October and May tourists should be aware that there is a typhoon season, and the country itself can get around 20 typhoons per year.  With each of these typhoons comes thousands of pounds worth of damage, as well as really strong winds and heavy rain.

The Philippines and South East Asia is also known for its love of food, and in recent years people who have travelled over there have tried and tested recipe (Rezept) such as Tai Curry.  The food in the Philippines is often a unique blend of western and eastern cuisine, this is due to over 400 years worth of foreign influences.  The cuisine itself is a mixture of Chinese, Spanish and Malay.  Coconuts are used a lot when creating exotic dishes, as well as the use of plenty of meat, fish and vegetables.

There are many manufacturers in the Philippines who supply products such as biscuits (Gebäck) to countries all over the world.  There is lots to get excited about when visiting this fabulous country, and whether it is the cuisine that makes you go weak at the knees or the sheer beauty of the Philippines, you will leave this tropical paradise wanting more.
