Top-level Domains to the Next Level this 2009

Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is going to be on its next level of creating free brand and free choice top-level domains.  This is more than .com, .org, .net, .biz, .uk, .ph, .us and more.

According on their statement on usatoday, early of 2009 will be the year where new top-level domains will be made available like www.we.care, www.cebu.city  or www.cebu.philippines.  Having a free choice top-level domain could be an advantage and a problem in someway… Helpful in a way websites are going to be organize and this might be a huge work for some big corporations.  If this won’t be properly organized or handled well, this could be a big mess and it’ll lead to a lot of confusions.

As a normal user, I wouldn’t care about the name of the website I could just easily search them on Google.  But for corporations? This is another challenge for their corporate identity.  For those who are monetizing on domains this could be an opportunity, they’ll just sell the domain at a higher price or at a fair price. 

Dare to buy .nike? .puma? .city? that’s a huge bucks! or .xxx? you could be a millionaire! That’s one way to make money online.
